There will likely be some special meals served in the next two months and we want to help you out with some special wines to go with them. We all know wine can elevate a meal or a party for that matter and nothing raises the bar like some wonderful imports from the “Old World”.The Murrieta Rioja shows elegance and grace, pairing nicely with roasted poultry, pork or a Paella party. The Marc Bredif Vouvray is perfect for a Thanksgiving turkey. It will also play nice with sweet and savory side dishes. The Cote-du-Rhône from Delas is perfect for the cool weather stews, roasts and even pizza. Wines like the Duas Quintas, or DQ for short, offer some “New World” appeal when it comes to fruit. It is made by blending some of the same red varietals that go into making classic Port wines from Portugal’s Duoro Region. Four delicious wines for your Holiday enjoyment. Cheers!Bill The Wine Guy

Marques de Murrieta Rioja Reserva 2008
This wine exhibits a dense, bright cherry color, and has an appealing big and spicy nose. Ist is impressive with its outstanding aromatics of cherry and red fruit, mineral smoke and subtle oak notes. On the palate it reveals fleshy fruit, silky tannins, and subtle, spicy oak. There is beautiful texture and an outstanding balance.

Marc Bredif Vouvray 2013
The wine is a brilliant pale gold. On the nose, there is a fine bouquet with full aromas of white flowers and yellow fruit such as pears. The taste is gentle with a lovely vivacity where one finds agreeable notes of grapefruit on the lingering finish. It is a lovely wine, ripe and refreshing.

Duas Quintas Douro 2012
Duas Quintas Red 2012 shows the excellence of the Douro Superior. Intense, vivid and bright garnet color. Vinous and floral aroma (lilacs and violets), with notes of ripe fruit, plum and grape from the wood aging. Fresh and smooth, but also flavorful, concentrated, and elegant while revealing silky and consistent tannins as well as a long finish. The 2012 harvest reveals exquisite finesse.

Delas Cotes-du-Rhône 2012
The Saint-Esprit’s deep color has a dark, plum-like hue. The nose is classical Syrah, with berry fruit, violet, licorice and spices. It has a full, rounded palate with delicate tannins. Saint-Esprit is a unique wine in the Côtes-du-Rhône appellation and can be paired with Provençale-style cuisine, game, roasts and mixed grills.
