Today’s blog is about the Mommas. It’s dedicated to all of the women who so generously gave up their time, energy, and bodies in order to further the existence of homo sapiens. You ladies rock. There is seriously so little that us men can say; it truly is hard to express how much you mean to us. Although sometimes we may not see things eye-to-eye, that doesn’t mean that our love and appreciation aren’t there. Shout out to all the Mothers out there. Have yourselves a fantastic weekend and a wonderful Mother’s Day! I’m going to be talking about a few beers this week that your Momma would like. Of course, everyone has different tastes, but I’m going to hit a few different palates with this week’s blog.
Before I begin, I want to give a special shout out to my amazing mother. You’re incredible and irreplaceable, and although I don’t always show it, I love you.
Now that we’ve got the gushy stuff out of the way, let’s get to the reason y’all are reading this right now… BEER.
Stop in at any of our locations and see what we are raving about!
And Now, the Brews
Oliphant Brewing | Somerset, WI | Super Squishy | Sour Ale
|“Did I just drink a cookie?” – “Straight up liquid candy.”These are two actual comments from customers after their first sip of this unique beer. Blackberry, raspberry, coconut, lactose, vanilla and sea salt come together to create a sweet, tart, creamy treat. Sweet berry aromas lead way to a wonderfully tart berry palate, which is followed by the sweetness and smoothness of the lactose and vanilla. The smoothie style sour ales are one of the fads right now, and there are a handful of local breweries that put out absolute flames, including Oliphant. They make a couple different variations of Super Squishy, including Chocolate Squishy, which is brewed with cherries, raspberries, cacao nibs, lactose, vanilla and sea salt. I also got some of the inside scoop on Secret Squishy and Splendid Squishy, which were extremely limited taproom only releases.
I will admit, my Mom absolutely hates sour beers. I’m featuring this beer because Oliphant is super dope, and because one of my aunts loved a smoothie sour that we shared over the holidays. So, Aunt Colleen, keep your eyes peeled for this one! And be sure to hit up Forager for some of their sours, because wow!

New Belgium Brewing Co. | Fort Collins, CO | Mural Agua Fresca | Fruit Beer
|New Belgium teamed up with Cervecería Primus, a microbrewery in Mexico City, to create this Cerveza. This Agua Fresca ale features hibiscus, agave, watermelon and lime for a fresh, vibrant sip. The inspiration for this beer came from the Mexican Agua Fresca tradition of fruit infused beverages.|

The Bruery | Placentia, CA | Or Xata | Blonde Ale
|This one is for all the Moms out there who love Horchata. Specifically, my Mom. This blonde ale is brewed with a heavy dosing of rice, cinnamon and vanilla along with lactose for a little extra creamy character. These ingredients meld together to create a taste and experience that hints at horchata, but it’s much more than that. The flavor is hard to describe, but for those who know it, you know you love it.|
