Mas Fi Brut Cava Non-Vintage

From Mark West, our Roseville Wine Specialist

I am delighted to present this lovely value-oriented cava. At $8.96 one could expect a lot less. But the Mas Fi performs better than the price would suggest. On the nose there are hints of fresh bread dough, honeysuckle and green apple. On the pallet notes of citrus, green apple and a bit of toast. Light pale in color this crispy bubbly could stand alone or be the carriage for juiced up mimosas. Cheers!

Chandon California Brut Rosé

From Beth Treretola, our St.Louis Park Wine Specialist)

OVERVIEW

Chandon was sparked into life in 1973 by the visionary spirit of Robert-Jean de Vogüé and California pioneer John Wright. As one of the first French-owned sparkling wine ventures in the U.S., Chandon carefully selected its vineyards in Napa Valley and are now considered to be amongst the best for producing quality sparkling wines in California.

NOSE/PALATE

Hailed as one of the winemaker Pauline Lhote’s favorite wines to make, the Sparkling Rose is aromatic, dry and reveals a gorgeous shade of pink in the glass. Aromas of fresh strawberry, watermelon and cherry proceed through the palate and finish.

FOOD PAIRINGS

Rosé is a wonderfully versatile style for pairing with food or enjoying as an aperitif. The abundant fruit flavors in this refreshing wine make it a perfect partner for all seafood, especially grilled salmon and shellfish in paella or gumbo. Its fresh flavors also make it a tasty choice for a not-too sweet dessert.

PROCESS

Chandon’s Sparkling Rosé is primarily made from Chardonnay with a little Pinot Noir red wine blended in to give it its signature flavors and beautiful shade of pink. The winery combines traditional French techniques and winemaking knowledge with the beautiful, sun-ripened fruit of California to craft sparkling wines of the highest quality.

The wine is perfect alone as an aperitif or as a delightful complement to appetizers such as prosciutto or mild cheeses. Excellent as a base for Bellinis and other sparkling wine cocktails.” -Winemaker’s notes

Calvet Cremant de Bordeaux Brut Non-Vintage

From Mark O’Conner, our Chanhassen Wine Specialist

The Calvet Brut is a 70/30% blend of Semillon and Cabernet Franc grapes grown on clay-chalk soils in the Entre-Deux-Mers region of Bordeaux, France. Like all French crémant wines, the grapes are harvested by hand and the wine is aged sur lie for nine months during the secondary ferment. With that relatively short time spent ‘on the lees,’ this wine retains some of its green apple fruit (with perhaps a touch of lemon) but has picked up some biscuit flavor and creamine.
