So close now I can almost taste it! My favorite holiday is just around the corner and I want to recommend some great wines for dinner. Lighter red wines and fruity whites are the thing for Thanksgiving. Pinot Noir, Gamay and if you’d like something a bit more robust, try a California Zinfandel. We have two Pinot Noirs on the list this week. The Illahe (pronounced Ill-ah-hay) Willamette is lighter with red fruits and some earthiness on the aromatics and finishes dry and crisp while the Meiomi is fuller bodied and richer. The Louis Jadot which is 100% Gamay Noir has some black cherry flavors and a soft finish, perfect for turkey and all the sides. Riesling and Gewurztraminer from Washington round out the selections because they play so well with the sage and savory flavors of a traditional turkey dinner. They both have a little residual sugar which we recommend since dry whites tend to make the food seem drier and less moist.Obviously we have many wines that will work well for the big day and we would love to show them to you. Time to come in and get your wine, beer and spirits needs taken care of. You might also need some wines for brining, sauces, gravies, etc. We have plenty of Port, Sherry, Marsala and Madiera!Hope to see you soon and have a great Thanksgiving.

Belle Glos Meiomi Pinot Noir California 2013 |
A brilliant, rich garnet color, it opens with lifted fruit aromas of ripe strawberry, plum and sweet Bing cherry, along with light cedar and spicy vanilla notes. Bold and expressive boysenberry, plum, cherry cola and toasty mocha flavors lend complexity and depth on the palate. The vibrant acidity is well balanced by sweet oak and subtle herbal notes, with structure and depth for a fuller bodied Pinot Noir. |

Illahe Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2013 |
2013 Illahe Vineyards Willamette Valley Pinot Noir has a variety of red-fruit flavors ranging from strawberry to cherry to cranberry. This wine has a background of earthy flavors to give it a rustic, old-world style, and the finish evolves into savory flavors of baking spice and clove. |

Louis Jadot Beaujolais-Village 2012 |
Strong red purple colour. Fresh red fruits on the nose with a hint of dark cherry. Slightly spicy with a touch of grey pepper, liquorice and a touch of rose flower. The whole wine is very well balanced with a nice acidity and the tannins presence on the finish invites food pairing such as with Terrines, Charcuteries, Grilled red meat, white fish, cheese or simply as the sole wine of a meal. |

Chateau Ste. Michelle Gewürztraminer Columbia Valley 2013 |
This Gewürztraminer is such an enjoyable wine with beautiful, expressive fruit and clove spice. This is a lush style of Gewürztraminer with a lot of floral character, yet it still maintains the grape’s natural crisp acidity. A touch of Muscat offers citrus notes and a deeper spice note. |

Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling Columbia Valley 2013 |
The Columbia Valley Riesling is a blend of Riesling from throughout Washington’s Columbia Valley. The wine offers crisp apple aromas and flavors with subtle mineral notes. This is our “everyday Riesling” that is a pleasure to drink and easy to match with a variety of foods. |
