The top foods that will be served at parties for the big game this Sunday are in order of popularity; Chicken Wings, Pizza and Burgers. I was a little disappointed that Kansas City style BBQ was not in the top three, but we can make recommendations for that. We could also talk about wines to go with the “San Francisco Treat”, but maybe we’ll go with a nice West Coast wine to go with all the top three food choices. For those of you who would like to enjoy some spicy Asian take-out, how about a lovely and balanced German Riesling?

Finally, for you Super Fans, you might want to consider a little bubbly to pop if your team wins. Or if you want something to go with your kettle chips and dip. Touchdown there baby! Enjoy the game and eat like a legend!

Cheers! -Bill “The Wine Guy”

Elouan Oregon Pinot Noir

This rich and rounder take on Oregon Pinot Noir goes with all the major food groups, wings, pizza and burgers so you are working your gap management perfectly. Elouan Oregon Pinot Noir is a beautiful dark scarlet in color, with aromas of dried cherries and blackberry, high fruit notes with hints of vanilla and clove spice. The flavors are structured and balanced with bright red raspberry and cherry, boysenberry jam fill the palate, complemented by subtle notes of white pepper.

Three Wine Co. Zinfandel Contra Costa County Zinfandel

OK, follow me here; I am recommending a Bay Area Zinfandel to go with some KC BBQ. Genius.

“This Zinfandel blend consists of young and old vines – from 25 year-old to over 100 year-old vineyards. These younger vine Zinfandel grapes show the typical raspberry to blackberry fruit so dominate in the older vines in the area, validating this Contra Costa appellation. The “field blend” contingent of this wine adds structure, color, cherry, and black fruit flavors. There is a deep concentration of ripe black cherries and spice with a minerality (earthy berry) sneaking through. The mouth-feel is rich and balanced with a lingering peppery finish.” -Matt Cline, winemaker

90+ Cellars Mosel Riesling

I know the over/under is only 54.5 for the game but I’m going 90+! Fragrant aromas of white peach, nectarine and Bosc pear backed by pastoral scents of hay or straw. Slightly sweet and refreshingly juicy. Make my wings extra spicy!
