For this week’s blog, I’m going to talk about Hefeweizens. A Hefeweizen, more commonly known as a ‘Hefe’ in the American market, is a German-Style wheat beer. The unique yeast strains and high malted wheat mash makes this one of the most recognizable beer styles, in that it is naturally cloudy and strikingly aromatic. The yeast used presents itself in the forms of fruit and phenolic, specifically banana and clove.
I’m featuring a couple awesome local Hefes because as you know, Minnesota sort of has this beer boom thing going on. I will also be paying homage to one of the staple German Hefes.
Stop in at any of our locations and see what we are raving about!

Paulaner Brauerei | Munich, Bayern Germany | Hefe-Weißbier | Hefeweizen
|And that brings us to Paulaner. Since 1634, Paulaner has been brewing wonderful beer with just a few simple ingredients. Their Hefe is the number 1 Hefe in all of Germany, and enjoyed around the world. A mild aroma of banana makes way to a smooth, almost creamy palate. Finer refined palates detect a trace of mango and pineapple and the balance of sweet and bitter (I read this, my palate obviously favors the hops.) This is a typical beergarden beer, which brings people together all over the world.|
