Every now and then I find a wine or a winery that gets me excited about the wine business and makes me want to share the news with everyone! This is one of those times. Clay and Margarita Shannon and their wineries, Vigilance and Shannon Ridge are just what the doctor ordered for you and I. Real wines made by real people, all estate grown and bottled. They are places you can visit in Lake County; and if you go there, you’ll find a beautiful and unique environment, perfect for making delicious wines.Clay and Margarita both grew up in wine country and worked in the wine industry but it was an excursion to Lake County and the sight of hillside vineyards above Clear Lake, sheltered by Mount Konocti that gave them their “Aha!” moment. They bought one and then another vineyard site and the path was set. Today they own a large tracts of vineyards situated at elevations of 1,200 to 1,400 feet above sea level and even higher, making fruit that goes into their Shannon Ridge and Vigilance labels.Stop in and give them a try. I think they will become a staple around your ranch!

|Vigilance Cabernet Sauvignon Lake County 2012|
|A beautiful, deep garnet color. Aromas of black cherry, tobacco leaf, spice, and sweet oak lead to flavors of ripe cherries, cassis and hints of vanilla bean.|
