The 2017 harvest is resting in tank and barrel in Argentina and Chile. Winter is coming, but not here. Way up North there is planting to do and enjoying the sun with grills blazing; we eat and play. Grab hold of these beautiful imports and create some gustatory memories!

A note about the wines featured this week:

Nicolas Catena is considered the Godfather of the modern Argentine wine industry. His influence is undeniable and now his children have joined the next generation of winemaking stars. Laura Catena has foregone a career in medicine to create wine brands of superior quality at every price point. Her “La Posta” project is, practically, an all-female venture and the wines are wonderfully drinkable. Her brother, after seeing the world as a global traveler, has created Tikal wines. Where Laura’s wines are supple and medium weight, Tikal is very extracted and somewhat decadent. They both are great. We also have some cool wines from Chile, just not what you might expect. An aromatic and crisp Pedro Ximenez for patio pounding and a terrific Pinot Noir that is great with a wide array of food. Get in and grab these while they are on special pricing for rewards members!

Cheers,

-Bill the Wine Guy

Tikal Patriota Malbec Bonarda Blend Argentina 2014
Southern Stars
“Aromas of blackberry, black cherry, licorice, cocoa powder and dark chocolate. Plush, supple and sweet, with broad blackberry and spicy oak flavors nicely framed by well-integrated acidity. The Bonarda component serves to fill out the wine’s mid-palate, giving it a silky smoothness. Not at all overly sweet on the back end, which shows solid tannic support. A fairly large-scaled, generous blend to drink now or hold, and an outstanding value.” 90pts Vinous
