Rest assured the wine buyer is doing his job!

Let’s take a little trip starting in the rolling hills above Lyon. The Beaujolais countryside is something a Minnesotan can take to heart and speaking of heart, the people of Beaujolais have got it in spades! The wine is as lovely as the inhabitants. The Regnie we will pour this weekend is full of juicy berries, black and red, with crisp acidity and soft tannins. I can drink this all day and sometimes do.

Now we head south to the Old Doc where vineyards stretch for miles on end. The French spoken here is a little more guttural than Paris and the locals are proud of their bounty. Like California it seems everything grows here and the Pinot Noir shows off a little extra ripeness and extraction. In the summer it goes with anything off the grill and in the winter; pair it with stew. It is a great value from a place known for value.

Lastly we go west, all the way to “Green Spain”, home to great seafood and the perfect wines to go with it. Ribeiro is an appellation that straddles the city of Ourense and the Minho River which forms the border with Portugal. The region consists of many small growers who sell their grapes to Coops and negociants. This beauty is an absolute steal at the price below. Bring on the fish, mussels and shrimp!

Come in and try these wines. This is living baby!

These wines will be available to sample this Saturday (7/30/16) from 1-5 p.m. at all locations.
