It’s my favorite time of the year, Fresh Hop Season! Forget Pumpkin Spiced Everything, just give me some fresh hopped beer and I am a happy woman.

And Now, the Brews

Founders | Harvest Ale | Wet Hop Ale
Fresh whole cone hops grow just a few hours from the Founders brewery, and they find their way into this kick-ass Wet Hop Harvest Ale. Bursting with flavor, this ale offers strong bitter pine and bright citrus flavors. It makes me do a double swallow on the finish thanks to its juiciness. Such a fantastic brew. By far my favorite of the lineup.

Fargo Brewing Company | Super Green | Fresh Hop Pale Ale
Fargo Super Green Straight from Fargo, North Dakota, this Fresh Hop Pale Ale is a newbie and a great addition to the Fargo line up. They produce some of the tastiest brews, including the delicious 1.21 Gigahops Double IPA. This Fresh Hop Pale Ale, though, has a resin and citrus aroma that blends with a completely bitter taste right from the get-go. Fresh pine and great tropical notes come through as it moves about your mouth. Definitely a little lighter in flavor, but remember this is a Pale Ale and a Fresh Hop Pale Ale at that. Drink it if you can find it.

Surly Brewing | Wet | Wet Hop IPA
Surly Wet I’ve had Wet both on tap at the brewery and from the can, and I thought this year’s version of Wet was pretty darn good in both respects. Made with all mosaic hops this Wet Hop IPA is absolutely tropical, which is a very much a bright ray of sunshine. Notes of grass and papaya with a great hint of piney hops on the tongue with virtually no bitterness to be found. Very fresh tasting. Worth the shot, and well worth your buck.
