Summer is winding down but the grill is going strong. This weekend I’ll be hosting a fantasy football draft so there will be smoke and plenty of wine. Hopefully enough wine to cause my opponents to make mistakes.

bousquet-reserva-malbec_WEB This is a wine of dark violet color with reddish hues. The nose presents intense aromas of blackberry with notes of black currant and plum. On the palate it is a balanced and elegant wine, with pure fruit expression like raspberry, fig, and chocolate. It has a well-defined velvety style, excellent structure and a long finish. It is ideal to combine with pasta, red meat, and meat with sauces, cheeses and chocolate.

Bolla Torr’Alta Veronese Red 2012
Torr’Alta means “highest tower” in Italian. It is a tribute to the tall towers that dotted the Veronese skyline in the Middle Ages, which were the residences of wealthy, noble families. The wine has a deep ruby red color and a bouquet of raspberry and currant with a hint of vanilla. It is smooth and balanced on the palate with velvety tannins. Pair it well pasta, grilled and roasted meats, game and cheeses.
