This is a very timely dispatch from the Ol’ Wine Guy: this is the time of year to look forward and plan for the harried holiday season. On a personal note, I also think about stocking up for parties, gifts, dinners and a whole lot of everyday wines for any reason. If you don’t know by now I like to drink wine every day and by virtue of that I enjoy a good value. I recently tasted wines with a new distributor in the Twin Cities that has excellent quality wares at fair prices. We tried some interesting, well made wines for less than $10 per bottle. That’s cause for a pre-holiday stock up and celebration. Cheers!

Come in this Saturday (9/24/16) between 1PM and 4PM and try them all.

Cheers,

-Bill the Wine Guy

Chapelle-St-Arnoux Côtes-du-Rhône Old Vine 2014
maison-arnoux-fils-chapelle-st-arnoux-cotes-du-rhone-vieilles-vignes-rhone-france-10575602t
This is my new house wine— A great value red blend. Deep ruby color with fresh berry aromatics and just a tinge of wild herb in the nose also. The texture is smooth and rich (thank you Ron Burgundy) and the finish is lingering like that of a wine with a much higher price tag. This is a wine to buy by the case(s).

Monsieur Touton Sauvignon Bordeaux 2015
touton sb This white Bordeaux exhibits classic, refreshing aromas and flavors of guava, gooseberry, white currant and grapefruit with underlying herb, grassy and mineral notes. It has a great finish. Try this with a Sunday roast chicken with garlic and lemon.

Brunellesco Pinot Grigio Delle Venezie 2015
brunellesco pg
For those of you who are fans of Italian Pinot Grigio with all its apple and citrus freshness, this is a must buy. I’d put this up against wines in the $18 to $23 level. The origin of Pinot Gris is French but the Italians have embraced it and are prolific producers. The Brunellesco is one of the best values in Italian Pinot Grigio that I have come across to date.
