My favorite holiday is quickly approaching and if you are as busy as I am, you know you need to plan ahead to make the day as stress-free as possible. Step one is procuring all the necessities for a successful celebration and that includes plenty of wine!

This meal is not particularly difficult to pair with the right bottle. Don’t worry, there are thousands of good choices. Just remember that this is not the time for big, tannic reds unless that is your favorite vino style and it is all you drink. This is the time for simple elegance and food friendly pours. Pinot Noir is my preferred red but any light to medium bodied red with nice acidity and softer tannins will suffice. If white is what you prefer, then get something with some nice fruit and skip the oaky ones. Pinot Gris comes with flavors of apples and pears and can also show off some floral aromatics. Chenin Blanc is another excellent choice and if you can find one with a little sweetness then all the better. We have some great ideas for you and we’d love to show them to you!

Kendall Jackson Pinot Gris California 2014
KJVRPG A dynamic balance between ripe, juicy fruit flavors and crisp acidity makes this medium-bodied wine both refreshing and substantive. It smells like a bowl of sliced melons, apples and grapes. After 79% Pinot Gris, the winemaker blends in Roussanne, Grüner Veltliner and a bit of Chardonnay.
