It is finally time to clean up the grill and get something cooking. If it’s rib-eyes, NY strip or a nice Porterhouse, we’ve got some big reds to put it over the top. We are talking carnivorous bliss. I have a house full of people who call themselves Pescetarians and I’ll throw some salmon on the Weber for them, but it’s beef for me this weekend.

These are some very interesting wines. The Intrinsics were fermented on the skins (this is called maceration) for six months! I thought 28 days was extended maceration, but this takes winemaking to a new level. Congrats to Juan Muñoz Oca of Columbia Crest for experimenting and creating something new and exciting.

The 1000 Stories Petite Sirah, aged in bourbon barrels, is a decadent red. I do not really taste the whiskey in the wine, but this elixir is dark and very rich. This is a project from the folks at Fetzer and so far, the wines have been delicious. Now get something sizzling and grab a glass of wine.

Intrinsic Wine Co. Red Blend Columbia Valley 2016
Intrinsic_3Bottle_RedBlend “For me, Malbec and Cabernet Franc go together like peanut butter and jelly. This wine opens with refined notes of raspberry, white tea leaves, a hint of fresh mint and lavender. The flavors are layered with milk chocolate, fig reduction, dark plum and licorice root, and the texture is angular, yet sophisticated, with chocolate ganache details in the finish.” – Juan Muñoz Oca, Winemaker
