It’s Thanksgiving next week which gives me a chance to flex my beer and food pairing skills. Not sure how your family is but mine likes to make way too much food, set it all up buffet style, and fight over the dark meat of the turkey. Personally, I am all about the sides. Whether your family is like mine or not, the beers below will hit the spot at every flavorful section of your feast. Pleasing a crowd or just yourself, Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy some great beers.

And Now, the Brews

Unibroue | La Fin du Monde | Tripel
unibroue-la-fin-du-monde
I say this often, but I am never sure if anyone really pays attention, but I’ve said it before and I will continue to say it, Unibroue’s La Fin du Monde is one of my favorite beers of all time. This Canadian Tripel is the most awarded Canadian beer and for good reason! You will find juicy aromatics of orange, lemon, and apricot with a peppery clove that tickles the nose. With a solid blend of coriander and orange, the flavor profile is complimented with citrus, banana, cloves, black pepper, and a slight touch of pineapple. This tripel has a great buttery finish which is why it’s perfect with your Thanksgiving feast. It will pair perfectly with the turkey, potatoes, fresh out of the oven buns, and anything else you can load onto your plate. Literally, the perfect beer for the dinner!

Prairie Artisan Ales | Pe-Kan | Imperial Stout conditioned on pecans and vanilla
prairie-artisan-ales-pe-kan Dessert in a bottle, that’s what Prairie’s Pe-Kan is, which is why it’s the ideal beverage to go with your Thanksgiving dessert. Deep malty aromas are supported by raisins, roasted coffee, candied pecans, vanilla, and brown sugar with a slight touch of booze. As you could imagine, there is an intense flavor of sweet dark roasted malts with an additional presence of brown sugar, caramel, and chocolate with an underlying note of vanilla and pecan. Pe-Kan finishes with a soothing booze burn, which, sitting at 11.5%, is expected, and when drank with some pumpkin pie, pecan pie, or almost any other semi-sweet and savory dessert, is welcomed! The pecans and vanilla really come out once paired with your Thanksgiving dessert!

Bent Brewstillery | American Guardian | Premium American Lager
American-Guardian-Can Now, if you’re supplying the beer for the masses, it’s best practice to grab something that most everyone can enjoy. This often means you’re grabbing a cheap domestic, but luckily in today’s craft market, premium Lagers aren’t that hard to find. Bent Brewstillery recently came out with just that and it will not only please a crowd but help cleanse your palate between bite, elevating your feasting experience. Pleasant aromas of sweet malt, corn, honey, and a touch of hop citrus. On the palate, notes of corn, honey, and citrus give way to crisp dry finish which is perfect between bites, but it’s also something that everyone can enjoy, craft and non-craft drinkers alike. PLUS, this beer also does good. A portion of all of the proceeds goes directly to Invisible Wounds Project, a Minnesota non-profit raising awareness and providing services to military and first-responders who are struggling with PTSD, mental health and suicide issues. Drink good, do good, feast good. Now, that’s a solid combination.

Boulevard | The Sixth Glass | Quadrupel
The Sixth Glass The perfect way to start or end your feast is what Boulevard’s The Sixth Glass is here for. It can be sipped on with the appetizers, dark chocolate, hard cheeses, or bacon wrapped dark fruits. It’s also great as an aperitif to help settle your stomach since we already know you’re going to eat too much. The smell of sweet molasses, cinnamon, banana, intense malts, and subtle rum-like notes tell of a complex recipe as it fills the room. The notes of rum are the first to show on the tongue which is followed by honey, burnt caramel, dark fruit, and a nice spice. This all helps hide the majority of the heat from the higher alcohol content. You may want to keep this one for yourself because it’s that good, and to be honest, it could handle any portion of your Thanksgiving feast!
12 oz Bottle | 10.2% ABV | 22 IBUs
